What is the Hospital Hopper?
The Hospital Hopper is a wheelchair accessible transport service tailored to meet the needs of Tendring resident who need transport to Colchester hospitals.
Who can use this service?
This service is open to all Tendring residents.
HOW MUCH DOES THIS SERVICE COST?
Adults: £8.50 single, £17.00 return.
Children under 16: £4.00 single, £8.00 return.
Children under 5: free of charge.
If you hold a valid concessionary bus pass you will receive free transport.
Please note: We are not able to accept bus passes before 9:00. A singe fare of £8.50 will be charged. This service is not door-door customers are required to get to a pre arranged pick up point.
What’s new?
We are excited to announce we received funding from The Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity. From the 1st April 2026 our Hopper timetable was extended offering a more frequent service to and from the Colchester hospitals.
On the 6th July 2026 we also introduced two new Hospital Hopper services covering Frinton/Walton and Brightlingsea
