Essex County Council part fund Social Car Schemes operating throughout Tendring District. Four of these scheme utilise the services of car owner drivers, who take people to hospitals and GP appointments. To contact any of these schemes please ring them on the numbers listed below.
Social Cars is a new service offered by Tendring Community Transport.
The service is for people who are over 65, have a disability and do not have access to a vehicle.
Our volunteers use their own vehicles to take people to medical appointments.
There is a membership of £25.00 per household per year.
The cost of using the social car service is based on miles – charged at 0.45 per mile from the persons home to the destination.
The service can be used for local or long distance medical appointments.
