What is Social cars?
Social cars is a car service which can be used to take you to and from medical appointments, including GPs, hospitals, dentists, opticians, physio and anything else health related.
Am I eligible to use this service?
This service is for residents of Tendring who are over 65 or have a disability and do not have access to a vehicle.
How does it work?
Our volunteers social car drivers use their own vehicles to take passengers to medical appointments.
They will then wait for you for up to 2 hours to take you home. If you require longer than two hours please inform the office at the time of booking.
(This is known as a double journey and there will be an additional charge)
There is an annual membership fee of £30.00 per household per year
(maximum of three people per household)
Fares are to to be paid to the driver on the day (cash only)
This service can be used for local or long distance medical appointments.

IMPORTANT
When booking a car please let us know if you are taking any mobility aids and how many passengers are travelling.
Try to give us as much notice as possible.
All our drivers are volunteers using their own vehicles and bookings are on a first come first serve basis.
